The panoramic views from the front of the house are matched, indeed possibly surpassed, by the views reached after a five-minute stroll from the house. This is the View Point in Lyth Hill Country Park overlooking the Wrekin and the South Shropshire hills. Because we are on a plateau at the top of Lyth Hill, even those not able to tackle serious walking will enjoy a stroll to take in the views and appreciate the peaceful countryside. Those who rely on the car to enjoy the countryside can do this with ease from the car park at the panoramic view-point. Spring Cottage, once the home of the author, Mary Webb is a five minute walk from Lyth Hill House. For something truly in keeping with the appeal of Shropshire, look at the various activities offered by the Thresholds Centre, only a few miles from Lyth Hill House.

The fascinating medieval town of Shrewsbury, the centre of which is only a ten-minute drive away, has hundreds of listed buildings and steeped in history. It is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and the "Brother Cadfael" books by Ellis Peters are based on Shrewsbury. In fact the Darwin Festival is fast becoming a major attraction to the town in February each year and of course the world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show takes place every August. Shopping and eating in particular are of excellent quality in the County Town of Shropshire. The Shrewsbury Music Hall, along with an 8 screen cinema and the Old Market Hall & Digital Media Centre add variation to the usual eating out and night-life options available in Shrewsbury. Inevitably in a town with such a sense of history as Shrewsbury, there are several Museums. Churches of historical interest abound in Shrewsbury, notably the Abbey, St.Mary's, St.Chad's and old St.Chad's. Across the road from St.Chad’s church is the Quarry Park, and hidden away there you will find the Dingle, always immaculate and worth a visit at any time of the year.

Major attractions within reach of Lyth Hill House include: Ironbridge Gorge (30 minutes); RAF Cosford Museum - now free entry - (30 minutes); Hawkestone Park (25 minutes); the Secret Hills discovery centre (30 minutes); and Powis Castle and gardens (45 minutes). More unusual attractions include the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, The Judge's Lodging and the Wroxeter Roman Vineyard, selling delicious local wines and only 7 miles from Lyth Hill House.

Garden Centres, including Percy Thrower's on the edge of Shrewsbury, abound in Shropshire as do garden attractions such as the Dorothy Clive garden, Wollerton Old Hall garden, David Austen rose specialist and the Lingen nursery, specializing in unusual alpine and herbaceous plants. We are well placed for visiting towns of interest such as Church Stretton, Ludlow, Bridgnorth (for the Severn Valley Railway), Llangollen, Oswestry, the Potteries at Stoke and Chester
