After a slow start this year, bookings are now flooding in for the coming months right through to September – some of you are planning well ahead! Availability throughout 2008 is still quite good at the moment but if you would like a longer stay or if you need more than one room it is especially advisable to enquire in plenty of time. Our home and business are for sale but we are very much in business and we welcome your enquiries and bookings. This is a very special B&B with superb facilities and coveted Four Star Gold Award in recognition of exceptionally high standards throughout.
In view of our unique combination of “selling points” – heated indoor swimming pool, ground-floor accommodation, and highly successful website we are having a huge amount of interest from prospective buyers but so far no-one has been able to sell their property in order to proceed with a purchase of Lyth Hill House. With the housing market as it is, our expectation is that we will continue to be “in charge” throughout 2008 and possibly beyond. Having been disappointed initially that our retirement is delayed, as the peak season gets under way we are now enjoying the “buzz” that comes from having guests stay with us.
It is our real hope and expectation that Lyth Hill House will continue to thrive as a very special B&B, whilst we are owners and after we’ve retired. For everyone’s sake, we are working hard to ensure that this is indeed what happens. We expect to have our annual inspection soon and are confident that our standards are maintained and improved to ensure that we keep the coveted Gold Award. We are currently under-going a major review to ensure that we fully comply with the new legislation on fire regulations.
We are keeping the SAME PRICES for the time being and our Terms & Conditions mean that you don’t have to pay a deposit until nearer the time. When you make a provisional booking, we will keep you personally in the picture at all times – contacting if and when there is progress in the sale. At the point that you pay your deposit you will know who your contract is with, whether it is us or a new owner. Should you decide to cancel at that time, or earlier, you won’t lose any deposit. New owners may well chose to increase advertising to generate new business but meanwhile our advertising is at a bare minimum. We are happy to rely on repeat visitors, word of mouth by recommendation and of course this website which is bringing many new guests. So, we hope that you’ll choose Lyth Hill House and we very much look forward to making you welcome in our home.
Terms and Conditions
- Lyth Hill House is currently for sale. Consequently advance reservations (more than 2 months in advance) will be provisional in the first instance. Your dates and choice of room(s) will be reserved but may not be treated as a confirmed booking until 2 months before the date of your stay. If at any time prior to that we agree to sell the property we will notify you as soon as possible. Two months before the date of your stay, we will invite you to confirm the reservation with deposit, at which point the booking becomes a binding agreement on both parties. If you do not wish to confirm the booking for whatever reason, there will be no loss of deposit prior to this time.
- A booking is confirmed upon receipt of deposit (£10 per person per night) and with a letter of confirmation from us at Lyth Hill House. The deposit will be deducted from the total cost.
- The deposit may be paid by most types of credit/debit card over the telephone 01743 874660, or by sterling cheque made out to Lyth Hill House. Should you wish to send a cheque, we will hold the reservation for a further 5 days pending receipt of the cheque.
- Once the deposit is received, we will confirm the booking in writing and send detailed directions how to find us.
- Should you subsequently wish to cancel the booking, the deposit/booking fee is non-returnable. Should you cancel within one calendar month of the due date 50% of the balance is due; within 2 weeks 75%; and within 4 days the balance is due in full. We strongly advise you to take out insurance to cover this eventuality, details of which we are happy to provide.
- On the day of arrival, rooms are available at a time to suit you from mid-day. (We ask you to provide us with a two hour period during which you expect to arrive.) On the day of departure, checkout time is 11am at the latest.
The final balance may be paid in cash or by Visa, MasterCard, Switch, Maestro, JCB, Solo or Electron card.
