Heated indoor swimming pool
In order to become more environmentally friendly, we have installed an air source heat pump to heat the pool. It works by drawing in the ambient air which in turn warms the heat exchanger. The pool water is pumped through the heat exchanger and ensures the pool temperature is maintained at 28-29 degrees C.
A swim jet has been installed to allow continuous swimming against a sustained current. The guests who have tried it out have really enjoyed it – it is fantastic exercise!
Our heated indoor swimming pool can be enjoyed for most of the year, normally between 7.30am and 7.30pm, subject to safety guidelines, of course. It is exclusively for the use of our guests, never more than six staying at a time. The temperature is kept at a comfortable 28 - 29 degrees Celsius, 84 degrees Fahrenheit and the actual swimming area is 5.25 m (17’3”) by 4.4 m (14’5”). The depth varies from 1.1m ((3’8”) to 1.5m (4’11”). There is a comfortable seating area for family/friends who want to enjoy the facility with you but who don’t want to swim. We provide an adjacent changing room with shower and toilet as an alternative to using your own en-suite facilities – the pool is part of the house, so very convenient to use.

We have tried to make the swimming pool as accessible as possible to those with mobility needs, but we are aware that it is not suitable for many wheelchair users. There is easy wheelchair access to the swimming pool area so that a wheelchair user can participate in some way if desired. Access to the water itself is via solid steps in the water and there is a grab rail to the right hand side on entering. Please note that there is no hoist and that the drop from the edge of the pool to the water itself is 9 inches (22.5 cms). Please let us know if you would like to discuss the situation further.
